A drummer at heart, Will first began playing percussion in 6th grade band. He bought his first drum set from Lakeland Music and Supply, the very store that would eventually become Northland Music Center. During school, Will was both a three-sport athlete and dedicated member of band. He was named percussion section leader and starting quarterback in his senior year at Rhinelander High School. After graduating, Will began giving lessons and working part-time at Lakeland Music and Supply. In 2010, Will opened Northland Music Center with former co-owner Don Peters. Today, as sole owner, Will strives to make NMC the premier music store of the Northwoods.
Nicki began piano lesson at a young age and later joined 6th grade band at James Williams Middle School. She continued to take music lessons and eventually advanced to Drum Major of the Rhinelander High School Band. Nicki began training in instrument repair under the instruction of former co-owner Don Peters, and later studied formally at Southeast Technical College in Red Wing, MN, where she earned official accreditation. As a member of the National Association of Band Instrument Repair Technicians (NABIRT), and with her broad range of knowledge in brass and woodwind instruments, she is happy to help with any questions you may have.
Charlie is an accomplished bass player with more than 20 years of experience. He teaches beginner to advanced bass guitar, as well as beginner guitar. As outside sales rep, Charlie provides pick-up and delivery service to several Northwoods school districts. He also serves as the primary guitar repair technician at NMC, though his repair expertise extents to almost all fretted and string instruments. When he's not at the store, Charlie can be found playing bass guitar for a large variety of groups in Wisconsin, including Whitehouse Players, Hip Pocket, The Scott Kirby Band, Brad Emanuel Trio, Dave Drivas and Friends, Paco Fralick, Kelly Jackson, Joe Bucher and many others.
Since he was five years old, Austin has been a lover and enthusiast of all music types. In particular, his love for hard rock and heavy metal sparked a desire to learn the ins and outs of all things music. Austin began vocal lessons at a young age, which gave him the necessary training to sing lead vocals for a variety of local bands. This experience inspired him to hone even more skills beyond vocals, starting with guitar and eventually leading to bass, drums, and more. Austin joined the Northland Music team to expand his ever growing knowledge of all things music and become more involved with local artists. Additionally, he hopes to help the next generation of musicians realize their passion, just as he did at a young age. When he is not at Northland, you can find Austin playing and recording with his band All Black Horizon.
Larry is a longtime alto saxophone player. Like many young students, he first began playing when he joined band in the 6th grade. Larry continued to perform in band throughout all of middle and high school, and attributes his time in band as one of the most rewarding and influential experiences of his school career. He continues to play his sax today, although just for fun. At Northland Music Center, Larry utilizes his many years of experience in graphic arts to produce digital, print, and video marketing materials & web assets. Occasionally he can be found behind the counter assisting our lovely customers.
